Technical Information on Pottery

Here are some places to look if you want more technical information on pottery-making:

Probably the most comprehensive site offering technical (and nontechnical) information on pottery making is the Ceramics Web. Glaze formulation is a particular area of focus on this site.

An excellent site to get help on safety and toxicity issues related to the arts is the Arts, Crafts and Theater Safety site run by Monona Rossol.

Need to find the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for a material? Start you search here.

digitalfire.com, a commercial site run by Tony Hansen, the author of Insight 5 glaze formulation software, has an excellent education section containing articles on a variety of pottery topics.

NCECA has links on their site that lead to a wide of variety of pottery information.

Frank Gaydos, on his site, has the most complete listing of frit compositions I have seen.

Robert Wilt, with the help of several potters from other countries, has done a wonderful job of compiling a Multilingual Dictionary of Pottery Words.
